Description: The objective of this elective is to provide the future physician with solid confidence and competence in the diagnosis and disposition of all common ocular disorders and emergencies.  Each student will rotate among the various faculty members.  The elective directs specific attention toward familiarization with diagnostic ophthalmic instrumentation and procedures.  General ophthalmology clinics include glaucoma testing, refraction, neuro-ophthalmology, and uveitis work-ups.  In surgery the student will experience cataract, corneal transplant, retinal detachment, glaucoma and strabismus procedures.  Attendance is required in clinic, the Operating room, at Grand Rounds, and at special conferences.  Students are required to make a presentation at Wednesday afternoon conference. *Georgetown students please bring a copy of the M4 evaluation form with you.
