MedKids (Mini Medical School for Kids)

MedKids (Mini Med School for kids) is a Special program at Georgetown University for rising 4th-6th graders who are interested in learning about the Human body and medicine. The first Mini Med School for Kids was held on August 4th-8th form 9am-4pm daily at the Allen Chapel AME Church Day Care Center (August 8th at the Georgetown University School of Medicine)

 

The program is designed to introduce kids to the World of Medicine through hands-on science activities. Georgetown University Medical students run the Mini Med School for kids.

  • Try your luck at Brain Surgery

Imagine being a Medical Student for a week. You will get to explore the World of Medicine and learn how your skeleton, muscles, heart, lungs, and brain work. You will work with other students to construct a life-sized human body out of JELL-O, Twizzlers, Marshmallows, Clay, Newspaper, and other fun things.

Finally, you will become a surgeon and scrub in for surgery. You will work as part of a team in a Mock Operation. During the surgery you will have to apply all of your knowledge. At the end of the program, you will graduate from the Mini Med School.
