Interview Information

The Interview

Invited candidates must attend a virtual presentation prior to the interview. These presentations are held on Mondays from mid-August- January, except holidays. Virtual interviews are scheduled Tuesday-Friday from September through February. Applicants receive one interview, conducted virtually, by a member of the basic science faculty, clinical faculty, or a selected fourth-year medical student.

Interviews last approximately 30-45 minutes and provide the Committee on Admissions with information on the applicant’s non-cognitive skills. Candidates are encouraged to discuss their unique background, motivation, interests, and goals during the interview.

Cancellation of Interviews

Each interviewer volunteers his or her time and must be informed of changes in the schedule well in advance. In addition, to fairly accommodate the large number of applicants to be interviewed, we must limit last-minute changes in appointment times. Please keep the following in mind when scheduling your interview:

  • Applicants are permitted to reschedule their appointments only one time. The reschedule date must be on or before the “interview by” date on the front of the invitation letter. A second cancellation will result in withdrawal of the applicant’s file.
  • Requests to cancel and reschedule an interview appointment must be made as soon as possible, but at least one week in advance.
  • In the event of an applicant’s arrival being delayed on the day of their interview, please immediately call (202) 687-1154.

Notification of Decisions

Applicants will be notified of the Committee on Admissions’ final decisions as they are made. Generally, one should anticipate a waiting period of approximately 10 to 12 weeks following the interview before notification.  Decisions by the Committee on Admissions are released via the Secondary Application System.

WITHDRAWAL OF APPLICATION

Candidates who wish to withdraw their application to our School of Medicine should notify the Office of Admissions by email. If an interview has been scheduled, please notify the Interview Coordinator by phone as soon as possible, so that another applicant may be given the opportunity to fill the vacated time slot.  Withdrawal notices may be made by e-mail to medicaladmissions@georgetown.edu
