Clarification on Duty Hours - As was discussed at the class meeting, the topic of duty hours has been a "hot topic" in ACGME circles. The PGY1 - 60 hour work week was discussed and debated at length but was never finally approved.
The actual ACGME Program Requirements are here provided. You may go to the VI.G section to review the Duty Hour Section. M3 students are to follow the PGY2 requirements, while M4 students undergoing their Acting Internship are to undergo the PGY1 requirements. Both groups of residents have an 80 hour limit averaged over a 4 week period.
