MEDICAL STUDENTS, PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING CHANGES TO THE STUDENT HEALTH CENTER:

Two newly opened clinics, some with expanded hours can be found at the following:

MedStar Health Center (not Metrorail or GUTS accessible)
Family Medicine at Spring Valley
4910 Mass Ave, NW
Suite 115
Washington, DC 20016

MedStar Health Center at Chevy Chase (near Friendship Heights Metro)
5454 Wisconsin Ave.
Chevy Chase, MD 20815

Appointments for these clinics can be made by calling the Georgetown M.D. Referral Service at (202) 342-2400.

Students are also eligible to move their primary care to any primary care provider at GUH (or within the MedStar Health network). This includes MedPeds which has opened a Wednesday evening clinic. Students should understand, however, that under the student insurance (UnitedHealthcare Premier Plan) they get the best value when using SHC (under Schedule 1). Other PCPs who are also in the UnitedHealthcare PPO – Med/Peds, for example, are covered (under Schedule 2) with slightly higher copays and a deductible, and the same applies to the two clinics listed above.

Additional changes to Student Health:
1. An additional person at the clinic's front desk will allow for staggered lunch hours. Phone lines will now be open for appointments during lunch hour.

2. In May 2011 the remodeling project began in order to allow for two additional exam rooms. This in turn should help with patient flow and enhance the clinic's ability to absorb influx of walk-ins. The project is completed but the clinic is just waiting on additional exam room equipment. Rooms should be fully operational by this fall.

Additional information can be found on the Student Health Center website.
