Doctoral Degree Programs

Biomedical Graduate Education, an extension of the Graduate School at the Medical Center, houses six biomedical master’s doctoral training programs. The doctoral training programs leading to the Ph.D. degree in a basic science discipline have a similar core curriculum requiring: instructional course work and electives; laboratory rotations; programmatic activities such as seminars and journal clubs; and the submission and defense of an original research dissertation.

Applicants may apply directly to one of the following interdisciplinary programs:

Georgetown University participates in the National Institutes of Health’s Graduate Partnerships Program.  Applicants who matriculate via this mechanism complete their coursework at the Georgetown University campus, but conduct collaborative research projects at both partner institutions.
