Georgetown Summer Medical Institute (GSMI)

Our Courses

All GSMI courses are taught by dedicated professors from Georgetown University Medical Center.

2020 Courses:

Tuition and Credits

Note: These rates are based on the per-credit figure approved by Georgetown’s Board of Directors for Summer 2019. Rates for Summer 2020 will be announced soon.

Biomedical Graduate Education (BGE) students who wish to enroll in GSMI courses would be charged the BGE per credit tuition rate (new window).

Human Gross Anatomy (5 credits) — $5,580.00

Human Physiology (5 credits) — $5,580.00

The two courses run concurrently during the summer session and therefore it is only possible to enroll in one of the two courses each year.  Tuition includes the use of course textbooks and lab fees (for Anatomy).  There are no additional fees for the Medical School Admissions Workshop.

Please see course descriptions for course numbers.

Full tuition payment is due before the start of classes on June 15, 2020.

Financial Aid

Unless you are already a current student at Georgetown University, we are unable to offer any financial aid for the GSMI program.  If you are currently enrolled at another school and taking the GSMI course for credit, you may be eligible to receive aid through your home institution; contact the financial aid office at your home institution for information.

Georgetown University reserves the right to cancel any course in which minimum enrollment is not achieved.  If a course is ultimately not offered, a complete refund, including the application fee, will be returned to applicants.

The Full Experience

University ID, GOCard, and NetID

All students are issued a Georgetown University ID for identification purposes (student records, etc.) and a NetID for e-mail, financial aid, Student Accounts, and other university services.  You will retrieve these credentials via the Secondary Application.  Please follow the instructions to activate your NetID.

Once you have your Georgetown ID, you may obtain your GOCard. Please see the instructions under “Photo for GOCard.”

Photo for GOCard

Once you have received your Georgetown ID and activated your NetID, please submit a picture for your Georgetown ID.  Standard headshot (like for a driver’s license or passport) is what’s needed.  If you do not submit one in advance, you will have a photo taken on June 15, 2020.  Please make sure to present a valid government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license or passport) when picking up your GOCard.  GOCard Services are available at the Leavey Center’s Bookstore at the UIS Service Desk and their hours are: Monday – Friday from 9:00am – 7:00 pm, Saturday 11:00am – 6:00pm, & Sunday 11:00am – 5:00pm.
