Georgetown University School of Medicine strives to ensure that its students become respectful physicians who embrace all dimensions of diversity in a learning environment that understands and includes the varied health care needs and growing diversity of the populations we serve.
The GEMS Program is a one-year, post-baccalaureate, non-degree educational experience designed to benefit those who have experienced and/or overcome significant challenges or adversity.
Student organizations play a pivotal role in our active and vibrant campus community. Below are a few ongoing programs available for School of Medicine students who are passionate about diversity and inclusion.
Faculty and staff are pivotal for the success of the school and its students. The Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging provides informational resources, workshops and training opportunities to faculty and staff.
“Equity – a simple 6 letter word that can change our world…Equity will allow a safe environment in which all individuals are seen, heard, and supported in accessing each and every opportunity available. With equity in mind, in all that we do, we work towards breaking down and ultimately liberating our world of systemic barriers that are keeping our people from unlocking their full, gleaming potential.”
