The Georgetown University School of Medicine is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), which provides a voluntary, peer-based evaluation of a program’s compliance with accepted standards for educational quality. Learn more about our current LCME accreditation and preparations for reaccreditation in 2027.
The Georgetown University School of Medicine (GUSOM) is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), an organization jointly sponsored by the American Medical Association (AMA) and the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), the purpose of which is to provide a voluntary, peer-based evaluation of a program’s compliance with accepted standards for educational quality.
The LCME typically conducts accreditation surveys on an eight-year cycle. GUSOM has been accredited by the LCME since 1949 and was granted continuation of full accreditation status during its last accreditation survey in February 2019.
The accreditation status of the MD program may be verified via the LCME website or by contacting lcme@aamc.org.
