Match Day 2025: By the Numbers

(March 21, 2025) — Friends and families joined the School of Medicine graduating Class of 2025 for the annual Match Day celebration March 21 at the Leavey Center.  Letters inside sealed envelopes revealed the residency locations and the next step in the journey for almost 200 future physicians. Surrounded by dozens of Georgetown University professors and MedStar Health physicians, the medical students opened their letters simultaneously just before noon.

Applicants registered in the 2025 Main Residency Match: 52,498

Available PGY-1 and PGY-2 training positions: 43,237 (6,626 certified programs)
