PLEASE BE AWARE THAT PUBLIC PARKING IS EXTREMELY LIMITED AT THE MEDICAL CENTER. If there is a convenient alternative to private transportation for you, it is strongly suggested that you use it.

If you must drive, you may attempt to park in the Leavey Center Parking Garage at Level 1 through Entrance 1. Public parking costs $5.00 per hour, or $25.00 per day. The Office of Admissions does not validate parking. There are some time-limited metered parking areas, but parking on most surrounding streets is restricted for residential parking, and you will not have the opportunity during the program to return to your car to “feed” the meter.

PLEASE NOTE: Road construction projects and other obstructions in the Washington area are numerous and ongoing. If you are planning to travel to the School of Medicine by car, please bear this in mind and anticipate delays. Regular updates on highway construction in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic are posted at www.i95coalition.org. The following provides simple routes to the School of Medicine from major highways in Maryland and Virginia. Due to street and building construction projects presently underway in downtown Washington and surrounding neighborhoods, motorists will encounter delays and detours when traveling crosstown routes in the District of Columbia. For this reason, we recommend avoiding crosstown travel unless you are familiar with the D.C. street grid and can ascertain alternate routes when necessary.

Please use a current road map in conjunction with these directions.

From Maryland: A suggested route is to travel I-495 (Capital Beltway) to the exit for MD-355 (Rockville Pike) South. Travel south on MD-355 (Rockville Pike). The name of the road will change to Wisconsin Avenue, which continues into the District of Columbia. After approximately 8 miles of travel, you will arrive at Reservoir Road NW. Turn right and continue to the School of Medicine, which will be on your left.

From Virginia: One suggested route is to travel north on I-95, by-pass exits at the Capital Beltway (I-95/I-495) and continue toward Washington on I-395. (DO NOT exit at the junction of I-95/I-495. You MUST FOLLOW THE SIGNS for Washington/I-395 North.) From I-395, exit at Washington Boulevard (which then curves left under I-395) and continue to the exit for US Route 50 East. Continue on US 50 to the exit for Rosslyn/Key Bridge. This puts you on Lynn Street, which proceeds to the bridge. As you cross Key Bridge, remain in the left lane, and turn left at the light at the end of the bridge at M Street NW. The name of the road changes to Canal Road NW. Continue on in the right-hand lane, following signs for Foxhall Road, making no turns and bearing right up the hill onto Foxhall Road NW. From Foxhall, continue to the third traffic signal, which is Reservoir Road NW. Turn right onto Reservoir and continue to the School of Medicine, which will be on your right. Another suggested route is to travel east on I-66 (during non-rush hours) to the exit for Key Bridge. Turn left at Lynn Street to access the bridge. Continue as directed above.

NOTE: Inside the Capital Beltway, I-66 is restricted to vehicles carrying 2 or more passengers traveling east during the morning rush hour (6:30 – 9:00am) and traveling west during the evening rush hour (4:00 – 6:30pm).
