Interview Information
The Interview
Last year, the School of Medicine interviewed 1,332 of its 13,016 applicants. Interviews are by Committee invitation only and are held Monday through Thursday.
Invited candidates must attend the interview program conducted at the School of Medicine. These sessions are scheduled each weekday from September through March. Applicants receive one interview by a member of the basic science faculty, clinical faculty, or a selected fourth-year medical student.
Interviews last approximately 30-45 minutes and provide the Committee on Admissions with information on the applicant’s non-cognitive skills. Candidates are encouraged to discuss their unique background, motivation, interests, and goals during the interview.
Program of the Day
All applicants invited to interview should report to the foyer of the Medical-Dental Building at 3900 Reservoir Road, NW (located between Entrance 2 and Entrance 3). Upon entering the foyer, applicants should check in with the admissions staff within the left-hand corridor (Office NE 108-C).
Please plan to arrive no later than 9:45 am.

Cancellation of Interviews
Each interviewer volunteers his or her time and must be informed of changes in the schedule well in advance. In addition, to fairly accommodate the large number of applicants to be interviewed, we must limit last-minute changes in appointment times. Please keep the following in mind when scheduling your interview:
- Applicants are permitted to reschedule their appointments only one time. The reschedule date must be on or before the “interview by” date on the front of the invitation letter. A second cancellation will result in withdrawal of the applicant’s file.
- Requests to cancel and reschedule an interview appointment must be made as soon as possible, but at least one week in advance.
- In the event of an applicant’s arrival being delayed on the day of their interview, please immediately call (202) 687-1154.
Notification of Decisions
Applicants will be notified of the Committee on Admissions’ final decisions as they are made. Generally, one should anticipate a waiting period of approximately 8 to 10 weeks following the interview before notification. Decisions by the Committee on Admissions are released via the Secondary Application System.
WITHDRAWAL OF APPLICATION
Candidates who wish to withdraw their application to our School of Medicine should notify the Office of Admissions by email. If an interview has been scheduled, please notify the Interview Coordinator by phone as soon as possible, so that another applicant may be given the opportunity to fill the vacated time slot. Withdrawal notices may be made by e-mail to medicaladmissions@georgetown.edu

Please remember that safety remains the top priority when making travel arrangements or the decision to embark or continue on your trip.
In the event of severe weather - or other events that may impact the safety and welfare of students, faculty, staff and visitors to the University - the following policy will be implemented with regards to School of Medicine interview days:
Should the Georgetown campus initiate a late start, the School of Medicine interview day will proceed on an adjusted schedule. Candidates will be notified by School of Medicine Office of Admissions staff of any alterations made to the schedule. Candidates must provide a contact number by which they may be reached the morning of the interview.
Should the Georgetown campus close due to inclement weather, the School of Medicine interview day must be cancelled. In the case that the university is closed, we will do our best to reschedule your interview as soon as possible.
We will note on your file that your interview was rescheduled due to weather and it will not negatively impact your application.
The School of Medicine is not responsible for costs to individual candidates related to rescheduling of an interview day.
Safety always comes first.
M.D./Ph.D. Applicants
Please note that an M.D./Ph.D. interview can be scheduled only by an applicant who has been invited to interview by both Schools. This designation will be noted on the interview invitation.
M.D./Ph.D. candidates will have an extended interview day as there will be interviews with both schools.
