Incoming M1 Financial Aid Process
Important Dates:
- January 2, 2024: FAFSA and GUSOM Financial Aid Form must be submitted by this date to be considered for institutional aid (regardless of admission status; no exceptions to this deadline)
- March 1, 2024: To request a federal loans-only package, GUSOM Federal Authorization Form must be submitted by this date
All incoming students who wish to apply for need-based institutional aid must complete both the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Georgetown School of Medicine Financial Aid Application regardless of admission status. Please read the instructions that are included with the financial aid application carefully, and note all filing deadlines, to ensure all required information is provided to our office. International students are not eligible to apply for need-based institutional aid.
1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Georgetown University School of Medicine’s FAFSA Code is E00518.
All unmarried students under the age of 30, and married students whose spouse is not currently employed, applying for institutional financial aid must provide parental information on the FAFSA. The IRS data retrieval tool must be used when submitting either parental or spousal income and asset information.
We recommend that students file the FAFSA no later than January 2.
2. Complete the Georgetown School of Medicine Application for Financial Aid (new window) (new window)and send in any required supporting documents, by January 2nd to be considered for institutional aid. The financial aid application deadline applies to all applicants regardless of admission status (i.e. wait-listed, not yet accepted). Applicants accepted after January 2nd who did not complete the application will not be considered for institutional aid. Supporting documents should be scanned and e-mailed to medfinaid@georgetown.edu
Incoming students applying ONLY for federal student loans to meet their education expenses and do not wish to be considered for institutional aid, are not required to complete a financial aid application, however they must complete the GUSOM Federal Authorization Form (new window) (new window) by March 1st.
